Age...
A flower has no age,
Even though time has its effects on it...
A woman has no age,
Even though time has its effects on her...
When I look at a flower,
When I looked at a woman like you,
I thank time to remind me,
How far we are come from,
How far we are going to.. .
Thanks to time to trace the Life Expressions on so pretty faces called 'Nature's Graceful Wonders'...

Dear Mélanie,
Every time I see you and your graceful presence in your ballet suit, I say to myself that I should let time trace its presence through real expressions on me.
I am so grateful that I can use photography to catch some of what I see and feel by watching and feeling Life through the wonders of life and lives....

Thank for letting me express how I see in you by my Mind!

Happy birthday...

Norooz /Joyeux /Happy Norooz....20 Mars 2013

Joyeux Norooz...Joyeux Printemps...
Happy Norooz ....Happy spring

Yesterday, when I saw the beautiful snow I said to myself,'Is it Christman or Norooz?'!
I comforted myself by accepting that the spring arrives later here in Québec,
To keep this beautiful ancestral tradition, I visited the Westmount Greenhouse until the spring shows up!
No matter,
I love life anyway and all its seasons!
'Live Life' as dear Marc Hervieux repeats it often!

Let's be happy and healthy and live in good harmony!

HAFTSEEN, Preparation NOOROUZ .....(traditional Iranian prepartions for New Year)

Photo: Shahrzad Ghaffari, 2013

READ ABOUT HAFT-SEEN BY VISITING THE SITE:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haft-Seen

Haft-Seen (Persianهفت‌سین‎) or the seven 'S's is a traditional table setting of Nowruz, the traditional Iranian spring celebration. The haft seen table includes seven items all starting with the letterseen (س) in the Persian alphabet. Haft-Seen was originally called Haftchin (Haftĉin) derived from the words Chin (چین), meaning "to place" and Haft (هفت), the number 7. The Haft Chin table includes the following items which symbolize Zoroastrian yazatas or divinities such as ātar and asmān.

Haft Chin
The "Haft Chin" items are:
  1. Mirror - symbolizing Sky
  2. Apple - symbolizing Earth
  3. Candles - symbolizing Fire
  4. Golab - rose water symbolizing Water
  5. Sabzeh - wheat, or barley sprouts symbolizing Plants
  6. Goldfish - symbolizing Animals
  7. Painted Eggs - symbolizing Humans and Fertility
The term and therefore the original custom was changed due to the digraph Ch (چ) not being present in the Arabic language leading to its replacement by the letter S (س). The invasion of Sassanid Persia by the Umayyad Caliphate in 650 brought acculturation and cultural transformation to the local Persians. This subsequently forced the local population to adapt and replace many Zoroastrian customs and words with Arabic and Islamic concepts. "Zoroastrianism was replaced by Islam as the religion of the rulers of Iran" [1] The Arabic language was heavily enforced upon the conquered from the local Persians and other Iranian speaking populations throughout Greater Iran and the surrounding areas. The Arab conquests dramatically changed the Middle East and North Africa in respect to language, culture, and religion. The digraph Ch (چ) is not present in the Arabic language leading to its replacement by the letter S (س) in the word Sin. The Arabic assimilation of the Persians and other Iranian groups continued under the Abbasid Empire until the revival of the Persian language and culture by the Samanid Empire in 819 although the term and custom of Haft Chin had evolved into Haft Sin after nearly two centuries of Arab rule.

The Haft Seen items are:
  1. Sabzeh - (Persianسبزه‎)-wheatbarleymung bean or lentil sprouts growing in a dish - symbolising rebirth
  2. Samanu - (Persianسمنو‎)-sweet pudding made from wheat germ - symbolising affluence
  3. Senjed - (Persianسنجد‎)-dried oleaster fruit - symbolising love
  4. Sir - (Persianسیر‎)- garlic - symbolising medicine
  5. Sib - (Persianسیب‎)- apples - symbolising beauty and health
  6. Somāq - (Persianسماق‎)sumac fruit - symbolising (the color of) sunrise
  7. Serkeh - (Persianسرکه‎) - vinegar - symbolising old-age and patience

Mary Boyce described a traditional Sharifabadi Zoroastrian New Years observance as including:[2]
  • Sabzeh - Sprouts from seven different kinds of seeds
  • clay figures, whitewashed (favorites being domestic animals, cows, donkeys, sheep, camel, nightingale, peacock, also household objects such as sugar-loaf, bowls, or a three-legged stool). These "bear witness to the triumphant works of creation."
  • mirror
  • a low brazier full of fire
  • a lamp
  • sprays of cypress or pine
  • pomegranates
  • painted eggs

About Me

Canada
